Knitting and Sewing..The Basics

After a long weekend we were casually eased into a bit of machine knitting and sewing.
Besides that we were let off to continue working by ourselves.

I did  more colour stories with the same pictures, figuring out how composition
and sizing effect the way we see the colour story.

Colour Boards..

are not as easy as they look...

This morning I picked out some images I wanted to pull colours from to create a colour board.
However, it is quite difficult to find the colours you want and to make your board look even just remotely
attractive and not like you just spent an hour in a senior infants art class.

After a few changes I managed to put together 3 from my favourite images.
Needless to say they're not my finished ones but they were good practice.

Manipulating Fabric..

Today's task was to manipulate material as much as we could relating them
to our images.
I got my hands on a few cans of spray paint and
'graffiti-ed' my fabrics.

Here are a few of them:

Tuesday

Photocopying like a mad yoke..

The photocopiers were taken over by first year fashion students today and by the end of the day only one of them was working.

We were mark making today trying to be inspired by our research we did yesterday.
Few patterns:

 My wall for the day.

Monday

Back To Fashion..

Day one over and i'm seeing patterns EVERYWHERE.
Our task was to find patterns within our environment.

So far I've settled on basing my project around graffiti and how the walls weather over time.

Few Photos from today:

Print

My project was about wrinkles and how they take over faces over time.

Vis Com Elective - Embracing The moment

Week One:

Week one was all about type.
My metaphore was 'Embracing The moment' . We dealt With Different types, Re-writing our metaphor coming up with new ways to get it across without being to literal.

I decided to take life moments and embrace them.
Seeing as I have Braces and have been ''embracing'' them for over 3 years
I wanted to try and get that across as easy as possible.

Week Two:

Week two was all about Illustration. Just like before we had to get across our metaphor without being to literal.

Again I dealt with My braces but put them in and around a situation you wouldnt normally find them.
