Padding is often added to garments to enhance the figure by improving a certain area of the body.

However, some designers steer clear of this technique because it can sometimes be unflattering if used incorrectly. One would associate it more with Haute Couture and extravagant designers rather than ready to wear collections.

One of these extravagant fashion houses is Comme Des Garcon. A japenese fashion label designed by Rei Kawakubo used padding in their Fall 2010 collection.
